not stated BTW: The test is a good CPU speed test but it doesn't tell anything
about HDD speed as a most computers will cache files in memory...

I have tested 2 systems. Both are stock hardware. The first one is a
microtower with a clean default XP setup, the second is a laptop with
tons of software installed - but(!) -some tweaked system settings (e.g.
unneeded XP system services disabled).

For curiosity reasons i have added selected timings of Hugin and
Autopano Pro/Linux. Both can stitch using all available cores.

I did some more runs to see if the results were reliable. Not very I'd say now.
The spread is just to wide between runs with identical settings : (

Oh, I forgot to mention that I have this in my C:\BOOT.INI

[boot loader]
timeout=5
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP
Professional" /fastdetect /NoExecute=OptIn /3GB

But I don't think that /3GB should have an effect on this test.
